Commanding Oficer
As commanding officer Flt Lt Ettinghausen is the overall command of the squadron. The Commanding Officer deals with everything from, teaching, paperwork, Civilian committee and so much more.
Training Officer
As training officer my role is to get the cadets engaged, learning new things, building their confidence, making sure that they are enjoying themselves at all times. From sports nights to aviation training there is always something to learn.
Having made the highest rank a cadet can ascertain Pilot Officer Faulkner chose the Commissioning Route to aid his continuation within the Air Training Corps.
I would like to get the cadets doing out door activities and show them that there is a world out there away from their smartphones and consoles.
Squadron Warrant Officer
Having been in the cadets for over 10 years starting as a 12 year old cadet Sergeant Sykes takes on the role of the Squadron Warrant Officer dealing with Drill, Dress and Discipline on the squadron.
" The reason that I do cadet's is to see the change in young people, cadets helped me and I want to be able to change the lives of so many other young people. Seeing the difference from when cadets join to when they leave is a great feeling.
Having been a cadet himself, Pastor Ollie came back to the organsiation, this time in a very different role.
As the squadron padre, Ollie's role is to look at the welfare, support and care of the cadets. Pastor Ollie also leads one night a month talking about the core values of the cadets and what the cadets can and want to achieve.
Flight Sergeant Goodier is the highest cadet rank at 228 Squadron but due to being over 18 is also a part of the staff team. FS Goodiers role is to take care of the cadets on a cadet level whilst also working with the Staff Team to bring across ideas that the cadets have.
“I find it a great privilege to have been able to extend my service as a cadet. I decided to stay on past 18 as I wanted to help support and educate current and future cadets. Being part of the Air Training Corps has helped me develop myself into the person I am today. The level of opportunities presented to me have been amazing, from learning basic radio communications, to learning to play the side drum and marching through London; and having the honour to help support and teach our cadets as they grow into mature, respectable individuals.”
